Barry Feinstein : Bob Dylan pt. 2 (and more...)

To continue with the whole Bob Dylan photographic series, I am currently browsing through Barry Feinstein's photographs, and chose a few of my favorites:

Eric Clapton

How great is this picture?
Esta foto es lo máximo.

This one is easily my favorite
Está es mi favorita, tal vez.

George Harrison (all things must pass)

I'm honestly in awe of this pictures, they are simply great.

Feinstein worked with Hollywood actresses, political figures, but most of all with great musicians. He supposedly took the photographs of over 500 albums (he took the cover of  the Rolling Stones' Beggar's Banquet and George Harrison's All things must pass). But his most famous work is the photographic portfolio he built around Bob Dylan.
He died a couple of years ago.

Bob Dylan : Daniel Kramer

Today I was helping Diego, to choose a haircut and found some legendary photos of Bob Dylan,  I wanted to share some, and while I was looking for them I decided to research a little bit more, after all Diego was right, musicians who have so many great portraits taken, usually have a friend photographer or a regular who does a very good job constantly. And of course this was the case, but it wasn't just one, there were many so I'm gonna start with Daniel Kramer and I'll probably do a couple more posts on the subject, I've become quite interested!
And since I just bought two awesome Bob Dylan shirts I'll share them too :)

I love the idea of being a musician's personal photographer (specially Bob Dylan's). When artist have such interesting personalities and evolve constantly musically, they usually want a visual image that accompanies that process. The photographers that have long relationships with musicians usually show this evolution through their pictures, and it can be quite extraordinary.
Last year I bought Anton Corbijn's book 'U2', and it covers his long photographic journey with the band and he writes about their friendship. And it is thanks to him that awesome images - that are great on their own - awake something in me, and of course I relate the image with the music I love, which completes the process.
To be honest this would be a dream job (I feel something similar towards still photography in movie sets, but it is not as epic as this I feel), and I feel the photographers who got to work repeatedly with the Beatles, Bob Dylan or U2 for example, were super lucky, but so are we, because thanks to them we can see so many great images of them.

Ok enough, my photography and music enthusiast self is going to sleep :p

The Puppy room

I think my uni totally needs a puppy room, everything would've made sense.

Clever youtube channels, part I

Drawing by Sarah Xu (http://captainpillow.blogspot.ca/)
She made this drawing for the smarter every day cat video, down below, and here is the process. I think it's amazing:

Just like Mike from the PBS idea youtube channel, mentioned in one of his videos, youtube channels aren't only for minecraft and make-up lovers. That being said, I spend a good part of my everyday life watching make-up (and fashion, and music) videos, I love them. But since I found PBS idea's channel (if you haven't seen it click here), I've realized how much I enjoy watching other youtube channels as well. Channels that have nothing to do with beauty.
To be honest I believe youtube is a really great place to learn new things, and that was my initial appeal towards make-up videos, I didn't know anything about make-up, but now, I'm pretty familiar with it.
The first video I ever watched from PBS idea, was a possible explanation to the question 'why do so many adults love Adventure Time?', I don't want to earn hate in my first posts - if anyone ever reads them -  but I have to say, I do not  love Adventure Time, I don't hate it either, I've just seen a few episodes but it hasn't made me want to go back and watch more to be honest. I am a big fan of cartoons and animations though, and if you put 'animation' and 'nostalgia' in the same sentence, what comes to my mind is actually Studio Ghibli and the works of Hayao Miyazaki.
But going back to the channel (http://www.youtube.com/pbsideachannel), what that video did do, was make me want to see the rest of the 'ideas'. If you want to know what this channel is about, they describe themselves as a PBS show that examines the connections between pop culture, technology and art. I don't agree with many of their theories - specifically the art related ones - but I enjoy hearing them, a lot, and Mike, the host, is smart, has a pleasant voice and a cute beard.

I love this video, I agree with most of what he says about genres (I argue with my boyfriend about genres all the time), but I recommend the rest of his videos as well.

________________________________________________________________
I was through pbs idea channel that I found the Smarter Every Day channel, and (obviously) loved the high speed flipping cats video. The image on top was made for that video. If you browse through the rest of the channel,  you can find a lot of interesting stuff, and even though I don't know anything about physics or math, I enjoyed them, they are meant for the general public, and I think most people would do too (if only for the slow motion cat action :p).

Maybe this videos are super popular and I don't even know. I'm curious as to what youtube channels other people follow.

About Bunny Bear

Bunny Bear was born about six months ago, but in reality it was born about a week ago.
The name:
My mom and I were watching last year's (or was it this year's?) Grammy Award's and during the nomination for best new album the host announced Bon Iver as one of the nominees, my mom asked me who was "Bunny-Bear" ? I thought it was hilarious and since Ponycat is another hybrid, I thought it was a perfect fit, specially because I do love Bon Iver, and bunnies...and bears... :)

I'm currently active in two other blogs:
My blogs:

Why do I need another blog? Are those two not enough? Am I just irrationally ambitious?
I don't really need another blog, nobody does, except maybe people with super writing/photo/video/etc skills with a lot to say, to help illuminate us mortals, but as I am none of those, I simply created this blog because I want to do something a little bit different from what I do in the other two.  Ponycat is a project I work on with my best friend Carmila, we write about, cats, crafts, food, photography and our mutual interest.
In Dig a Pony I post my photographs, I don't write anything in there - except descriptions or credits from the shoots - and I'm careful not to rant or share things that are not relevant to the blog's purpose. I show that blog as a kind of portfolio sometimes, that's why.

Actualmente participo en otros dos blogs:
Mis blogs:
The Ponycat Blog y Dig a Pony.
¿Porqué necesito otro blog? ¿No son 2 suficientes? ¿Soy irracionalmente ambiciosa?

 Back to Bunny Bear:
The purpose or lack-thereof
This blog will be home to my opinions, things I'd like to share, specially illustration stuff, videos, books, movies and such, and also stuff I make. Things that don't exactly fit anywhere else. And since I don't have a definite goal starting this, I don't know if it would be fun to read for anyone else but me. But I figured, since I love reading a lot of other people's opinions, and since so many other blogs from so many different people inspire me, maybe the things I share will inspire someone, somewhere.
Bunny bear will start today and I will do my very best to update it regularly, if someone starts to read it, I will always try to keep it pretty and to answer stuff, and if no one comes I can always come back and read it and like it a lot myself. My first blog is now dead unfortunately, but every time I go back and re-read a little I am very happy to see the effort I made, and reading it again seems like new. I started that blog without any purpose and for no one but myself, but I ended up with good friends (in real life too!), that's why I'm keeping my hopes up!

English & Español
The bilingual explanation
We started this bilingual stuff for Ponycat, and let me tell you: It is a pain.
It does take more than double the time, but to be honest I can't think of anything else that makes sense to me, most of the stuff I read/watch is in English, and I don't like the idea of someone who I share interests with, let alone someone I read, finding my blog and not being able to read any of it. So yeah, if I belong to some kind of community someday I'd like to be available to the people I admire. And of course I have to write in Spanish as well, it is my first language after all, and Spanish is awesome.
So it works like this: Almost every post will be written in both (the Spanish version will be in Italics). The translation will not be super exact to be honest, I go with the flow a little, the gist will be the same.
I apologize in advance for any mistakes I make, please keep in mind that this is not my first language.

Who am I?
And some links & important stuff:
I live in Mexico, studied Visual Arts, I work with Loup, I do mostly photography and illustration work. I love movies going to the movies, eating bread, coming back to my house and my cats (and dogs), I like going to concerts, for the music not the people, I like reading fiction, I study Japanese. And I'm sure more random information about me can be interpreted through my posts. :)
I now use twitter, I am not very interesting to read....yet...I hope I can change that :p
